An Immigrant’s Story with Sonia Nazario
Enrique, a 17-year-old boy from Honduras braves unimaginable peril on his journey north, desperate to reunite with his mother 11 years after she was forced to leave her starving family to find work in the United States. Sonia Nazario first documented his trek in a six-part series published in the L.A. Times, for which she won the Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing in 2003. It was published as a book in 2014, and is a common or freshman read in schools across the country. Ms. Nazario will speak about Enrique's story and its incredible relevance to the experiences of other immigrants and unaccompanied minors seeking safety in the U.S. today.
