Welcoming Greater Charlottesville was formed in 2017 with the goal of creating a more welcoming environment for all, with a special emphasis on refugees and immigrants.  We strive to educate the community about the contributions and the challenges they face.

Specifically, our goals are to:

1. provide support for all immigrants and refugees, and

2. educate the community about the needs and contributions of immigrants, refugees, and any others who are being marginalized today.

Members of Welcoming Greater Charlottesville are affiliated with the community’s public schools, health care providers, immigrant and refugee groups, English language instruction programs, local government, the University of Virginia, religious institutions and interested community members.  Together the members of Welcoming Greater Charlottesville plan educational and cultural programs, and collaborate with other community initiatives to educate the public about the ways that immigrants and refugees enrich our lives, and to offer guidance on how we can address the barriers and challenges newcomers often face.

Anyone interested in participating in the Welcoming Greater Charlottesville group may contact Russ Linden: russlinden1946@gmail.com
